What is storytelling?
​
Storytelling is the ancient craft of sharing wisdom, knowledge and information through the spoken sharing of stories, such as wonder (fairy) tales, folktales and myths.
The teller works intimately with the story, to know and embody it, learning of its intricate and subtle messages before offering it out to their audience, in this way it becomes a transmission. The storyteller acts as a bridge from the spirit world of story to the manifest world of the people.
Story speaks directly to our soul, in its own language.
Stories are living beings, once received they take on a life of their own as they lead the listener into their own personal interpretation and insights.
Storytelling has been practised and adored across the world since humans have gathered and communicated together; it kept people safe and connected, it inspired and evoked emotion, it brought entertainment and nourishment. This craft has be largely forgotten in modern times, but our spirit
remembers and awakens when we receive the gifts of the teller.​​​​​

I am committed to sharing (primarily old) stories that...
- rekindle hope in challenging times
- provide us with keys and maps to seek navigation and guidance
- get us asking questions
- return the voices to the voiceless
: especially women throughout history (his-story) whose true stories have been distorted, silenced or forgotten.
​
I am greatly influenced by mythology and have a keen sight for how these stories have shaped our lives for thousands of years. I recognise that the messages of these stories are still prevalent today and have much to teach us from a personal to global perspective. I believe we can turn to these stories for guidance when lost, comfort when low, courage when fearful and solidarity when isolated.
​
I feel that stories are best understood when we have the space to discuss and integrate immediately after receiving them. And so it is my preference to set aside a little time after a telling to open these discussions so the wisdoms may be recognised and allowed to take shape in our realities.
​
I am able to share a variety of stories to suit a particular theme or occasion (I am not limited to what is shown here), should you be interested in hiring me to perform at a birthday, Mothers blessing, wedding celebration etc. I am available for at-home private, small group bookings, festivals/multi-group events, single-performance events.

Lilith : The Song Of Before And Beyond
​
A journey into the wild reclamation of self
​

This is a multi-faceted journey that weaves ancient Celtic prayer, modern day folk song, ritual and storytelling into a 60 minute performance centred on one of the stories of the Goddess Lilith. The reclamation of; NO, sacred rage, our own shadow, and our natural wild natures are at the heart of the intention of this telling. Through biographical and mythic tales, laughter and grief, we explore the narratives that have been placed upon us by our own hand or the hand of the “Other”. Dipping into themes of exile, choice, betrayal, twisted narratives, accusation, the Holy, Paradise, tenderness, bliss, unity and more. Its a packed full journey that has continuous layers urging us to peel them back to take us where we REALLY need to go. Audience members have said this story has stayed with them many weeks later. This is a story for our times, Lilith is calling us back to our true natures, free from shame and shackles.​

Don't you recognise me, when I call you by your true name, Wild One?
I am the underbelly, the great blossoming of your unruly becoming. Fear me not but do not underestimate me. For although I may be the soft green leaves unfurling, I am also the lightning that singes the soil.
This is a journey of reclamation. What parts of the self have been lost, forgotten, abandoned? Join me as I attempt to unravel the mystery of reclaiming the wild, ancient and sovereign self. Journeying into The Song of Before and Beyond, all that was and ever will be, that is always available, if only we dare to go looking.

​​​Calling In The Light
​
60 mins.
This performance weaves the story of Amaterasu (Sun Goddess from Japan) with ritual moments of audience participation of movement, singing, ceremony and playful celebration. It was originally created to celebrate the Summer Solstice but can be suited to a variety of themes/purposes.
We all move through periods of darkness in life – be that due to the ever changing and cycling of seasonal light, or within our personal lives - entering the "underworld" by choice or necessity. In this piece, we follow Amaterasu – The Shining One – as she guides us, with intuitive knowing and unwavering compassion into the Great Cave of Heaven, to enter a period of challenging but transformative darkness and solitude. Using ritual and play, we move together, embracing our own divinity, to call back the light of the sun Goddess, within and without, accumulating with great celebration and joy.
This piece is ideal to open an event such as a party, festival or birthday. It recognises and pays homage to the challenges of life, never shying away and at the same time holding the lightness of peace and joy. The more the merrier for this piece, big groups welcome.
My current pieces are ready to share at events and I am open to creating tailored pieces on specific topics or themes.
